Adaptive Cruise Control

Selecting Cruise Control Mode

Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) helps drivers maintain a constant speed and distance from the vehicle ahead using sensors to detect other vehicles. The system can reduce the speed of the vehicle if there is a slower moving vehicle ahead, bring the vehicle to a standstill, and resume speed regulation as long as the vehicle in front is moving again.

Selecting Cruise Control Mode

Locate the Cruise Control buttons on the left side of the multi-function steering wheel.

  • Press the button repeatedly to cycle between Adaptive Cruise Control, Cruise Control, and Travel Assist.
  • A speedometer icon for cruise control , Adaptive Cruise Control , or Travel Assist will appear in the instrument cluster display. ACC is the default cruise control system.

Adjusting the Distance

You can set the speed-dependent distance from the vehicle ahead to one of five levels.

  • To change the ACC distance interval, press the  button to cycle through the distance intervals until you reach your desired distance level. When the shortest interval is reached, the distance returns to the greatest interval when the button is pressed again.

Set and Adjust Cruising Speed

  1. When you get to your cruising speed, press the SET button on the multi-function steering wheel.
  2. A green cruise control indicator light or or will illuminate in the instrument cluster display.
  3. To increase/decrease the speed by 1 mph increments, press the + or - button gently.
  4. To increase/decrease the speed by 5 mph increments, press and hold the + or - button firmly or swipe it from the bottom to the top.

Cancel and Resume Cruising Speed

  2. The green cruise control indicator light or or will turn off.
  3. To resume your set speed, press the RES button on the multi-function steering wheel.

Predictive Adaptive Cruise Control

Predictive Adaptive Cruise Control is an extension of ACC that uses the Dynamic Road Sign Display system and Navigation data from the Infotainment system to adapt the vehicle's speed to known speed limits and to the road layout ahead.

Predictive ACC options can be enabled or disabled before your drive from within the ACC (Adaptive Cruise Control) menu of the Driver assistance system settings menu.

  • Reaction to Maximum Permitted Speed: Adjusts the vehicle speed to changes in posted speed limits read by the Dynamic Road Sign Display system.
  • Reaction to Route Ahead: Adjusts the vehicle speed on approach to most curves, roundabouts, and intersections. May also slow the vehicle at the next respective turn off if you indicate your intent to turn with the turn signal.

With either of these options enabled, Predictive ACC will automatically be used when using Adaptive Cruise Control or Travel Assist.

Travel Assist System

The Travel Assist feature is a semi-automated driving assistant that blends the functions of Adaptive Cruise Control and Lane Assist to help your Volkswagen maintain a safe distance from the vehicle ahead and help keep you centered in the lane. The driver must maintain supervision as the Travel Assist system is not an autonomous feature. Lane Assist must be enabled for Travel Assist to work.

To Enable Travel Assist:

  1. Press the button on the multi-function steering wheel to cycle between ACC, cruise control, and Travel Assist.
  2. Press the SET button on the steering wheel at the desired speed.
  3. To cancel Travel Assist, press the brake pedal or press the  button on the steering wheel.
  4. To resume Travel Assist, press the RES button on the steering wheel.
