Self-service methods to protect your connected vehicle data
If you are unable or unwilling to submit the documentation required for emergency removal in connection with a domestic violence situation, there are self-service methods available to help you protect access to your connected vehicle data and vehicle location. Please review each method thoroughly to determine which process best meets your needs. Note that some of these methods may send a just-in-time notification to users who have been removed.
Method 1: Perform a Factory Reset
A factory reset will cancel your connected services subscriptions and vehicle pairing to your myVW account, terminating access to connected vehicle data. Performing a factory reset is easy and can be performed as-needed through your vehicle’s infotainment system. You can find more detailed information and other important warnings in your Online Owner’s Manual.
Notice: Once a factory reset has been performed, a confirmation email will be sent to all myVW account users associated with the vehicle. And since a factory reset cancels all subscriptions, refunds (if applicable) will also be issued to the purchaser’s credit card.
In some instances, a factory reset will also close the myVW account.
In the event of an account closure, you may elect to re-enroll at any time. Please note re-enrolling will not restore subscription services. You will need to resubscribe. To re-enroll in myVW, you will need to create a new account here: Re-Enroll in myVW
A Factory Reset is recommended only if you're confident you can maintain physical access to your vehicle.
Method 2: Remove additional users from your myVW account
If you are the primary myVW account holder, you can control user access to your connected vehicle services by removing any additional users added to your myVW account. Select the VW Help Center link below to learn more.

Note: Any users removed from your myVW account will be notified via email.
