Predictive ACC options can be enabled or disabled before your drive from within the ACC (Adaptive Cruise Control) menu of the Driver assistance system settings menu.
- Reaction to Maximum Permitted Speed: Adjusts the vehicle speed to changes in posted speed limits read by the Dynamic Road Sign Display system.
- Reaction to Route Ahead: Adjusts the vehicle speed on approach to most curves, roundabouts, and intersections. May also slow the vehicle at the next respective turn off if you indicate your intent to turn with the turn signal.
With either of these options enabled, Predictive ACC will automatically be used when using Adaptive Cruise Control or Travel Assist.
Travel Assist System
The Travel Assist feature is a semi-automated driving assistant that blends the functions of Adaptive Cruise Control and Lane Assist to help your Volkswagen maintain a safe distance from the vehicle ahead and help keep you centered in the lane. The driver must maintain supervision as the Travel Assist system is not an autonomous feature. Lane Assist must be enabled for Travel Assist to work.

Cold Weather Charging
Most EV battery systems, including the ID.4, are optimized for an ambient temperature of around 72 degrees Fahrenheit. When the battery is cold, it may only accept a lower charging power. The vehicle’s software determines this limitation, and it is necessary to prevent damage within the lithium-ion cells.
Here are some tips to help you get the most out of your ID.4 in colder weather:
Try preconditioning the climate settings while your EV is connected to a charger. This will help ensure the effort of heating the cabin doesn’t come from the high voltage battery but rather the electrical power grid, thus maximizing the energy available when driving.
Typically, the higher your state of charge (SOC), the slower the speed your vehicle will charge, contrary to what one may think. Your ID.4 will calculate and request from the charger the energy needed to charge the high-voltage battery safely and efficiently while considering things like temperature and consumption needs (like climate preconditioning).
Connecting the Charging Cable

To open the charge port, located on the passenger side rear, ensure the vehicle is unlocked and press on the left side of the door.
Retrieve the charge connector and connect to the port. The connector is designed to ensure alignment as you connect. Note that some public charging stations require an additional step in order to release a connector for retrieval and charge activation—directions are generally listed at these locations or in complimentary apps.
Depending on your charge settings, your charging session may start immediately for immediate charging or may wait for a specific time to commence should you have a scheduled charging parameter programmed. Charging status details will be shown on the vehicle’s center screen.
DC Fast Charging

Level 3 DC charging can be performed at a public charging station where it is charged with a very high charging power. This significantly reduces the charging time.
- Remove the Level 3 protective cap from the charge port and stick it on the hanger located on the inside of the charging flap.
- Retrieve the connector from the charging unit and connect to the port.
- Activate the charge via mobile app, charger screen, or other instructions on the charger.
- Charging will commence. Status may be reviewed on the vehicle’s center screen as well as on the charging unit’s display, if equipped. Many charging network providers often provide status through their complimentary apps.
NOTICE: A very high charging power is used for fast-charging with DC. Frequent fast-charging can permanently decrease battery capacity. Charge the high-voltage battery primarily with AC at a charging station or wall box.
During Charging
Charging status can be read from the indicator light inside the charge port, from the ID. Light at the front of the dashboard, and from the Infotainment screen where charge session details will be shown:

After Charging
When the desired level of charge is reached, the charging process indicator on the charging socket turns green.
Removing the charging connector:
- Unlock the vehicle.
- Press the release button on the charging connector and remove the charging connector.
OR
- If “Unlock AC Connector Automatically” is enabled in the charging settings the charging connector will automatically unlock once charging is completed.
- To activate this feature go to Charging Menu > Settings > Unlock AC Connector Automatically and enable the feature.
- Disconnect the charging cable from the power supply and replace the protective cap.
- Close the charging port flap until it audibly engages.
Scheduled Charging via the Infotainment System

Charge scheduling can be used to limit when the ID.4 charges in order to take advantage of off-peak electricity rates (if you are enrolled in a plan from your electrical utility that offers variable rates), or to ensure the ID.4 is freshly charged for a planned journey.
