Adaptive Cruise Control

Left-Side Controls

This feature is not a substitute for attentive driving. ACC cannot bring vehicles with a manual transmission to a complete stop. See owner's manual for complete information and system limitations.

Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) helps maintain an individually stored constant speed and a previously set distance between your vehicle and those in front of you. When you approach a slower-moving vehicle in front of you, the vehicle may brake if the situation requires. When the vehicle is no longer present, ACC will accelerate back to the stored speed.

Watch the Adaptive Cruise Control video.

Activate Adaptive Cruise Control

Locate the Cruise Control buttons on the left side of the multi-function steering wheel.

  1. Press the button to activate Adaptive Cruise Control (or Cruise Control if ACC is disabled in the system settings).
  2. A speedometer icon or will appear in the instrument cluster display.

Set Cruising Speed

  1. When you get to your cruising speed, press the SET button on the multi-function steering wheel.
  2. A green cruise control indicator light or will illuminate in the instrument cluster display.
  3. To increase/decrease the speed by 1 mph increments, press the + or button.
  4. To increase/decrease the speed by 5 mph increments, press and hold the + or button.

Cancel and Resume

  1. To cancel the cruise speed, press the brake pedal or press the button once on the multi-function steering wheel.
  2. The green cruise indicator light or will turn off. Your last selected speed stays in memory until you turn off the ignition or turn Cruise Control off.
  3. To resume your set speed, press the RES button on the multi-function steering wheel.

Turning the Cruise Control System Off

  1. Press twice.

Set the Distance Level

You can set the speed-dependent distance from the vehicle ahead to one of five levels.

To change the ACC distance interval, press the button on the steering wheel to cycle through the distance intervals until you reach your desired distance level. When the shortest interval is reached, the distance returns to the greatest interval when the button is pressed again.

Deactivate Adaptive Cruise Control

To deactivate Adaptive Cruise Control and instead use Conventional Cruise Control:

  1. Navigate to the Assist Systems menu in the Infotainment system.
  2. Using the arrow buttons on the steering wheel, scroll to Speed.
  3. Select Cruise Control in the instrument cluster display, then press the OK button.

Adaptive Cruise Control is now deactivated, and your vehicle will maintain the set speed using conventional cruise control until the next ignition cycle.

Predictive Adaptive Cruise Control

This feature is not a substitute for attentive driving.

Predictive Adaptive Cruise Control is an extension of ACC that uses the Dynamic Road Sign Display system and Navigation data from the Infotainment system to adapt the vehicle's speed to known speed limits and to the road layout ahead.

Watch the Predictive Adaptive Cruise Control video.

Predictive ACC options can be enabled or disabled before your drive from within the ACC (Adaptive Cruise Control) menu of the driver assistance systems settings menu.

  • Reaction to Maximum Permitted Speed: Adjusts the vehicle speed to changes in posted speed limits read by the Dynamic Road Sign Display system.
  • Reaction to Route Ahead: Adjusts the vehicle speed on approach to most curves, roundabouts, and intersections. May also slow the vehicle at the next respective turn-off if you indicate your intent to turn with the turn signal.

With either of these options enabled, Predictive ACC will automatically be used when using Adaptive Cruise Control or Travel Assist.

Driver assistance features are not a substitute for attentive driving. See Owner’s Manual for further details and important limitations. System performance may be limited by weather, road conditions, and visibility. IQ.DRIVE® technologies cannot overcome the laws of physics or prevent all collisions.
