Additional Lighting Features

Light Assist

Light Assist automatically controls the high beam headlights, activating them when darkness is detected and dimming them when oncoming vehicles, vehicles ahead, or well-lit areas such as towns are detected.

To activate Light Assist:

  1. Turn the ignition on.

  2. Turn the headlight switch to the AUTO position.

  3. Push the high beam lever away from you, out of the basic position.

  4. When Light Assist is activated, an indicator light will appear in the instrument cluster:
Blue light: The high beam headlights are turned on.
White light: Light Assist has dimmed the high beam headlights.

To adjust the sensitivity of Light Assist:

  • Increase sensitivity: Push the lever forward and hold it in place for about 15 seconds. The indicator light in the instrument cluster will blink three times in confirmation.
  • Reset sensitivity to standard setting: Push the lever forward and hold it in place for about 15 seconds. The indicator light in the instrument cluster will rapidly blink three times in confirmation.

IMPORTANT: Within CAR > Vehicle settings > Lights is a section titled “Light Assist.” These settings refer to other assistive lighting features, not the Light Assist function.

Exit and Entry Lighting

When you are entering and exiting the vehicle in the dark, the Exit and Entry lighting function – also called the Coming/Leaving home function – illuminates the immediate area around the vehicle.

Entry lighting switches on when darkness is detected, the headlight switch is set to AUTO, and the vehicle is unlocked with the key fob. Entry lighting turns off when one of these conditions is met.

  • The lighting duration set in the Infotainment system has elapsed.
  • The vehicle is locked.
  • The light is manually switched off.
  • The ignition is turned on.

Exit lighting switches on when darkness is detected, the headlight switch is set to AUTO, and the ignition is turned off. When the last vehicle door or trunk lid has been closed, Exit lighting will remain on until the lighting duration set in the Infotainment system has elapsed.

To adjust the duration the lighting remains on within the Infotainment system:

  1. Make sure the vehicle is parked.

  2. Select CAR from the Infotainment touchscreen.

  3. Select Settings.

  4. Select Lights.

  5. Scroll down to "Coming/Leaving home" function.

  6. Adjust "Coming home" function and "Leaving home" function to your preferred duration.

Ambient lighting can provide indirect lighting in various areas of the vehicle interior.

The brightness and, depending on vehicle equipment, the color of the ambient lighting can be adjusted in the Infotainment system:

  2. Select CAR from the Infotainment touchscreen.
