Set the Distance Level
Applies to vehicles with Adaptive Cruise Control. This feature is not a substitute for attentive driving.
Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) helps maintain an individually stored constant speed and a previously set distance between your vehicle and those in front of you. When you approach a slower moving vehicle in front of you, the vehicle may brake if the situation requires. When the vehicle is no longer present, ACC will accelerate back to the stored speed. You can set the speed dependent distance
from the vehicle ahead to one of five levels.
- To change the ACC distance interval, press the
button to cycle through the distance intervals until you reach your desired distance level. When the shortest interval is reached, the distance returns to the greatest interval when the button is pressed again.
Deactivate Adaptive Cruise Control
Applies to vehicles with Adaptive Cruise Control.
To deactivate Adaptive Cruise Control, and use Conventional Cruise Control:
Press the
button. Depending on vehicle equipment, it may be on the steering wheel or at the end of the turn signal stalk.Using the up/down arrow buttons
on the steering wheel, scroll to Speed.Select Cruise Control in the instrument cluster display then press the OK button.
Adaptive Cruise Control is now deactivated, and your vehicle will maintain the set speed using conventional cruise control until the next ignition cycle.
Travel Assist
Applies to vehicles equipped with Travel Assist. This feature is not a substitute for attentive driving.
Within system limits, the Travel Assist system enables your vehicle to steer, accelerate, and brake automatically while also keeping the vehicle centered in lane. Travel Assist can also maintain a constant distance to vehicles in front which is selected by the driver. The driver must maintain supervision as the Travel Assist system is not an autonomous feature.
To enable Travel Assist:
Press the
button on the multi-function steering wheel to activate Adaptive Cruise Control.Press the
button to switch from Adaptive Cruise Control to Travel Assist.Press the SET button on the steering wheel at the desired speed.
To cancel the Travel Assist, press the brake pedal or press the
button on the steering wheel. To resume Travel Assist, press the RES button on the steering wheel.
Blind Spot Monitor
Applies to vehicles equipped with Blind Spot Monitor. This feature is not a substitute for attentive driving.
The Blind Spot Monitor helps the driver by detecting traffic behavior beyond the vehicle.
- The yellow indicator light on the respective side mirror will illuminate when a vehicle is detected in the blind spot on that side.
- The yellow indicator will blink if a vehicle in the blind spot has been detected and the turn signal has been activated in the direction of the detected vehicle.
- The yellow indicator light will remain lit rather than blinking if your vehicle is being overtaken or you are overtaking a vehicle with a speed difference of up to about 6 mph. There is no indicator if the passing speed is clearly faster.
With Lane Assist active, the yellow indicator light will blink if a lane change is attempted with a vehicle in the blind spot, even with the turn signal active. Corrective steering may occur.
Lane Assist
Applies to vehicles equipped with Lane Assist. This feature is not a substitute for attentive driving.
Lane Assist helps the driver to stay in the lane, within the system limitations. This function is not suitable for, and not designed for, autonomously keeping your vehicle in a lane.
If the system detects that the vehicle is coming too close to a lane marker, Lane Assist warns the driver with corrective steering. The driver can override the corrective steering at any time.
Emergency Assist
Applies to vehicles equipped with Emergency Assist. This feature is not a substitute for attentive driving.
Emergency Assist* can recognize driver inactivity and can automatically keep the vehicle in its lane and, if necessary, slow it down to a stop. While the ignition is on, Emergency Assist is active when:
- Lane Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), or Travel Assist are active and the vehicle is in forward motion.
- The system can detect lane markers on the left and right side of the vehicle.
IMPORTANT: If Lane Assist is disabled, Emergency Assist will not function unless Travel Assist is active.
*Emergency Assist is not a replacement for the driver's attention and works only within the system limitations. Emergency Assist cannot detect all driving situations and may not react, may react with a delay, or may react in a way that is not desired. Emergency Assist also cannot always avoid accidents and serious injury by itself. If you are careless, there is a risk of accidents, serious injuries and death.
Rear Traffic Alert
Applies to vehicles equipped with Rear Traffic Alert. This feature is not a substitute for attentive driving.
Rear Traffic Alert monitors the cross traffic behind the vehicle when reversing out of a space or maneuvering. Radar sensors behind the cover of the rear bumper monitor the rear and side areas of the vehicle.
In the event of approaching, moving objects, the driver is warned of the obstacle. If the driver does not respond, automatic braking support may kick in.
Automatic Emergency Braking (Front Assist)
Applies to vehicles equipped with Front Assist. This feature is not a substitute for attentive driving.
Front Assist can recognize impending forward collisions and warn the driver. In addition, the system can provide support when braking and initiate an automatic braking maneuver. The Front Assist system can help to avoid accidents but cannot replace the driver's attention.
Front Assist can recognize the following objects, depending on vehicle equipment:
- Vehicles.
- Pedestrians.
The way that Front Assist reacts to these objects depends on:
- Type of object.
- Direction the object is moving.
- Speed of the object.
- Speed of your vehicle.

Voice Control
Voice Control Overview
Voice control1 is an available technology in our vehicles that allows drivers and front passengers to perform various functions using spoken commands.
Functions that the in-vehicle voice control system can perform are:
- Enter a navigation address*.
- Search for points of interest in listed categories*.
- Place phone calls from a paired device.
- Read or dictate text messages from a paired device.
- Change vehicle media source, radio station, or frequency.
A variety of voice commands are available, depending on which language has been set in the Infotainment system and whether there is an active VW Car-Net® Plus Speech with AI2 subscription, which unlocks more voice control capabilities. For full details and a list of compatible languages, please refer to the Owner's Manual.
A list of example voice commands can be found in your Voice Control settings, as well as by accessing the "Help" menu in the Infotainment system and selecting Voice operation.
Initiating a voice command can be accomplished either by manually pressing the talk button on the multi-function steering wheel or by using a wake word, like "Hello Volkswagen".
*Applies to vehicles equipped with factory-installed navigation.
Manual Activation
- A short press of the Talk button
on the multi-function steering wheel activates the in-vehicle voice control1. - A long press of the Talk button
on the multi-function steering wheel activates the digital assistant of a connected compatible mobile device.

- Tip: Try choosing a wake word or phrase that has a higher detection rating to help prevent unintended activation of the voice control system. This means selecting a word or phrase that isn’t part of your typical “everyday” conversation. The detection rating will be shown once a custom wake word is set.
Voice Control Tips
- When requesting to call or text another person1, the contact must be said exactly as it is stored in your phone's contact list.
- If multiple numbers are stored per contact, you may use the shortcut: "Call John Smith, work" if the number is stored that way. The system may ask you to choose "work, mobile, home," etc.
- When using a wake word, unintended activation is more likely when using a wake word or phrase that has a low or poor detection rating1. For a higher detection rating, choose a word or phrase that isn’t part of your typical “everyday” conversation. The detection rating will be shown once a custom wake word is set.
- If subscribed to Plus Speech with AI2, the generative AI can help answer a wide variety of questions, but this part of the feature does not control vehicle functions and cannot answer real-time information.
1 Functionality mentioned only available in select models. See owner's literature for limitations and details.
2 Requires a VW ID, myVW account, Car-Net subscription, acceptance of VW Car-Net Terms of Service, and vehicle cellular and GPS connectivity.
