IQ.DRIVE
IQ.DRIVE Overview
IQ.DRIVE® is a driver assistance feature set designed to help make everyday driving more convenient and give added peace of mind. With a range of driver assistance features that work within system limitations, Volkswagen’s IQ.DRIVE® technology is meant to support you on the road and, in certain situations, may help mitigate the severity of a crash or even avoid one. IQ.DRIVE ® features and functionality may vary based on vehicle model, model year, and trim.
IQ.DRIVE® does not replace the driver and cannot overcome the laws of physics. Drivers should always remain attentive and in control of the vehicle.
Watch the IQ.DRIVE Overview video.
System Limitations
In certain situations, driver assistance features may not engage or could trigger unwanted braking. While common examples are listed below, the full details about driver assistance functions and their limitations are available in the Owner’s Manual.
- Poor weather conditions, such as heavy rain, snow, ice, or fog.
- Unclear or missing lane markings, such as in construction zones or narrow curves.
- Blocked, damaged, or misaligned sensors due to things such as dirt, ice, leaves, or other external debris.
- A heavy trailer or cargo can change sensor angles and disable features.
- Sharp curves or steep slopes can cause lane centering or alerts to fail.
- Reduced visibility from environmental factors, such as glare
- Traffic detection limitations, meaning certain systems may only react to traffic traveling in the same direction.
- External interference from nearby ultrasonic sources or non-VW accessories.
Driver assistance features are not a substitute for attentive driving. See Owner’s Manual for further details and important limitations. System performance may be limited by weather, road conditions, and visibility. IQ.DRIVE® technologies cannot overcome the laws of physics or prevent all collisions.

Driver assistance features are not a substitute for attentive driving. See Owner’s Manual for further details and important limitations. System performance may be limited by weather, road conditions, and visibility. IQ.DRIVE® technologies cannot overcome the laws of physics or prevent all collisions.
IQ.DRIVE
Side Assist (Blind Spot Monitor)
This feature is not a substitute for attentive driving.
The Side Assist (Blind Spot Monitor) system helps the driver by detecting traffic behavior beyond the vehicle.
- The yellow indicator light on the respective side mirror will illuminate when a vehicle is detected in the blind spot on that side.
- The yellow indicator will blink if a vehicle in the blind spot has been detected and the turn signal has been activated in the direction of the detected vehicle.
- The yellow indicator light will remain lit rather than blinking if your vehicle is being overtaken or you are overtaking a vehicle with a speed difference of up to about 6 mph. There is no indicator if the passing speed is clearly faster.
If both Side Assist (Blind Spot Monitor) and Lane Assist are enabled in the driver assistance systems settings, the yellow indicator light will blink if a lane change is attempted with a vehicle in the blind spot, even if the turn signal is used. Corrective steering may occur.
Driver assistance features are not a substitute for attentive driving. See Owner’s Manual for further details and important limitations. System performance may be limited by weather, road conditions, and visibility. IQ.DRIVE® technologies cannot overcome the laws of physics or prevent all collisions.
IQ.DRIVE
This feature is not a substitute for attentive driving.
Lane Assist helps keep your vehicle centered in your lane when driving above 35 mph. If the system detects that the vehicle is coming too close to a lane marker, Lane Assist warns the driver with gentle steering interventions (or nudges). The driver can override the corrective steering at any time.
This function is not suitable for, and not designed for, autonomously keeping your vehicle in a lane.
Driver assistance features are not a substitute for attentive driving. See Owner’s Manual for further details and important limitations. System performance may be limited by weather, road conditions, and visibility. IQ.DRIVE® technologies cannot overcome the laws of physics or prevent all collisions.

Emergency Assist can recognize driver inactivity and can automatically keep the vehicle in its lane and, if necessary, slow it down to a stop. While the ignition is on, Emergency Assist is active when:
- Lane Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), or Travel Assist are active and the vehicle is in forward motion.
- The system can detect lane markers on the left and right sides of the vehicle.
If Lane Assist is disabled, Emergency Assist will not function unless Travel Assist is active.
Driver assistance features are not a substitute for attentive driving. See Owner’s Manual for further details and important limitations. System performance may be limited by weather, road conditions, and visibility. IQ.DRIVE® technologies cannot overcome the laws of physics or prevent all collisions.
IQ.DRIVE
Rear Traffic Alert
This feature is not a substitute for attentive driving.
Rear Traffic Alert monitors the cross traffic behind the vehicle when reversing out of a space or maneuvering. Radar sensors behind the cover of the rear bumper monitor the rear and side areas of the vehicle.
In the event of approaching moving objects, the driver is warned of the obstacle. If the driver does not respond, automatic braking support may kick in.
Driver assistance features are not a substitute for attentive driving. See Owner’s Manual for further details and important limitations. System performance may be limited by weather, road conditions, and visibility. IQ.DRIVE® technologies cannot overcome the laws of physics or prevent all collisions.
IQ.DRIVE
Front Assist (Automatic Emergency Braking)
This feature is not a substitute for attentive driving.
Front Assist can recognize impending forward collisions and warn the driver. In addition, the system can provide support when braking and initiate an automatic braking maneuver. The Front Assist system can help to avoid accidents but cannot replace the driver's attention.
Front Assist can recognize the following objects, depending on vehicle equipment and system limitations:
- Vehicles.
- Pedestrians.
- Bicycles.
The way that Front Assist reacts to these objects depends on:
- Type of object.
- Direction the object is moving.
- Speed of the object.
- Speed of your vehicle.
Driver assistance features are not a substitute for attentive driving. See Owner’s Manual for further details and important limitations. System performance may be limited by weather, road conditions, and visibility. IQ.DRIVE® technologies cannot overcome the laws of physics or prevent all collisions.
Charging Your EV
How to Charge

Connecting the Charging Cable
- To open the charge port, located on the passenger side rear, ensure the vehicle is unlocked and press on the left side of the door.
- Retrieve the charge connector and connect to the port. The connector is designed to ensure alignment as you connect. Note that some public charging stations require an additional step in order to release a connector for retrieval and charge activation—directions are generally listed at these locations or in complimentary apps.
- Depending on your charge settings, your charging session may start immediately for immediate charging or may wait for a specific time to begin should you have a scheduled charging parameter programmed. Charging status details will be shown on the vehicle’s Infotainment screen.

DC Fast Charging
Level 3 DC charging can be performed at a public charging station where it is charged with a very high charging power. This significantly reduces the charging time.
- Remove the Level 3 protective cap from the charge port and stick it on the hanger located on the inside of the charging flap.
- Retrieve the connector from the charging unit and connect to the port.
- Activate the charge via mobile app, charger screen, or other instructions on the charger.
- Charging will commence. Status may be reviewed on the vehicle’s center screen as well as on the charging unit’s display, if equipped. Many charging network providers often provide status through their complimentary apps.
NOTICE: A very high charging power is used for fast-charging with DC. Frequent fast-charging can permanently decrease battery capacity. Charge the high-voltage battery primarily with AC at a charging station or wall box.
Charging Status
Charging status can be read during charging from the indicator light inside the charge port, from the ID. Light at the front of the dashboard, and from the Infotainment screen where charge session details will be shown:

EV Battery Settings

Easily adjust important battery and charge settings1 in the myVW app2. From the Home tab of myVW, select the ellipses icon
in the upper right corner of the vehicle image, and choose Battery.
Energy Management
In situations where the 12-volt battery is too low for myVW and your vehicle to communicate, enabling the “Energy management”1 function will use energy from the high voltage battery to help support remote requests.
Energy usage from the high-voltage battery for remote and other operations can affect actual vehicle range.3
Battery Care Mode
To automatically set your battery’s target state of charge (SOC) to 80%, toggle “Battery Care Mode” to ON.1
Target Charge Level
Adjust your target state of charge (SOC) using the slider.1
For everyday use, we recommend setting the maximum SOC to 80% to prolong the life of the high-voltage battery. We recommend charging the high-voltage battery to 100% only before long journeys. See your Owner’s Manual for more detailed information and important safety warnings.
Charge Current
You can help control the charging power delivered to your vehicle by setting the charge current.1
To get the most available charge power possible, set to “Max”.
In situations where load reduction on your local power supply is needed, set to “Reduced”. Doing so will limit the power draw to 10 amps.
Release Charging Connector
When plugged-in and actively charging, the vehicle locks the charging cable in place to ensure a secure connection.
If using a Level 1 or Level 2 charger, you can set the frequency of which you’d like the vehicle to automatically unlock1 the charge cable once the session is complete.
