Your 2023 and newer Volkswagen electric vehicle has the benefit of Plug&Charge at Electrify America DC fast charging stations⁠. Once activated the benefits include:

  • A convenient, reliable, and growing network of over 4,000 electric vehicle (EV) chargers coast-to-coast along major highways and routes
  • A better charging experience by creating a secure, convenient, and effortless way to pay for charging sessions on the Electrify America network
Activating Plug&Charge

  • Not enrolled with Electrify America

    If you haven’t yet downloaded the Electrify America app or enrolled in the included charging plan for your Volkswagen EV, here’s how to activate Plug&Charge:

    Electrify America enrollment

    1. Download the Electrify America app, create your account, and select “Set Up Public Charging"
    2. Select “Choose Membership Plan”, then “Premium Offers”
    3. Input your 6-digit enrollment code, which you will receive from your Volkswagen dealer, and select the applicable Charging Plan. Input your vehicle’s 17-digit VIN for verification
    4. Accept Plan Disclosure, then tap “Select this plan”
    5. Enter payment info and set up auto-reload
      - You will need to enter a payment method to cover any incurred Idle Fees or applicable taxes
    6. Tap the green “Activate Plug&Charge” button and tap “OK"

  • Already enrolled with Electrify America

    If you’ve already downloaded the Electrify America app and enrolled in the included charging plan⁠ for your Volkswagen EV, here’s how to activate Plug&Charge⁠:

    1. Open the Electrify America app
    2. Tap “Account” in the lower right of the app screen
    3. Tap “Plans” and then the applicable charging plan
    4. Scroll down to the Plug&Charge section and tap “Activate now”
    5. Tap the green “Activate Plug&Charge” button and tap “OK”

EV plans

  • For 2023 ID.4 Vehicles

    2023 ID.4 vehicles include a 3-year unlimited 30-minute charging plan with Plug&Charge. Keep in mind that Plug&Charge will only work for original owners while the included charging package is still valid and that this charging plan is not for commercial use, such as ridesharing.

    There is a one-time activation required in the Electrify America app to enable Plug&Charge. This includes agreeing to the Plan Disclosure and making a $10 deposit for Idle Fees and charges beyond 30 minutes.

    After 30 minutes, charging keeps going at the current Electrify America Pass rates. You'll pay Idle Fees if your car stays connected for 10 minutes or more after charging stops or your ID.4 is fully charged. Keep in mind that there's a 60-minute wait time between the unlimited 30-minute sessions. Also, charging too often can permanently decrease battery capacity, which might not be covered by your vehicle's warranty.

  • For 2024 ID.4 Vehicles

    2024 ID.4 vehicles include 3 years of Electrify America Pass+ membership with Plug&Charge and 500 kWh of charging on us! Pass+ members save about 25% compared to the Electrify America Guest and Pass member base charging rate.

    Keep in mind that the included charging plan will only work for original owners of Volkswagen ID.4 vehicles purchased from an authorized U.S.-based Volkswagen dealer. In addition, Plug&Charge will only work while the included charging package is still valid. This charging plan is not for commercial use, such as ride-hailing or ridesharing.

Charging with Plug&Charge

Please note that the Plug&Charge⁠ feature deactivates with the expiry of the charging benefit included with the purchase of a new, unused compatible electric vehicle.

Plug the charging connector into your Volkswagen EV and wait for the vehicle-charger connection to be established

Check the charger screen to ensure charging has begun.
