Volkswagen Cranbury

No. On March 4, the National Labor Relations Board notified Volkswagen that the United Auto Workers filed a petition asking for an election to be held so that our hourly RDC and PDC employees may vote on whether they want to join their union. The outcome of that election will determine whether or not Volkswagen Cranbury is unionized.

The election will be held on April 11, 2025, in the Penske Break Room. Employees will have the opportunity to vote between 12:00 pm – 2:00pm and 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm.

It is completely your decision and Volkswagen respects that. No one will know how you vote. You have to do what you think is best for you and your family.

Several employees who signed union cards have asked if they can get it back from the union. You can ask them to return the card, but it is rare that unions give cards back and it is unlikely to stop the election. The best way to make your voice heard is to vote during the secret ballot election.

• Volkswagen’s parts distribution center in Los Angeles, California is unionized by the Teamsters, but they do not have a better wage/benefit package than Cranbury.
• In fact, the starting wage here in Cranbury is higher than the starting wage in Los Angeles. Cranbury workers are also eligible for an annual performance bonus targeted at 5%, whereas in Los Angeles, bonuses max out at $500 after taxes per quarter and are only awarded if targets are met. For example, no bonuses were paid out in Los Angeles for Q3 or Q4 of 2024 because targets were not achieved. Both locations offer the same paid time off and vacation time.

All union members have to pay dues. For example, UAW local 2210 representing workers in Cranbury pay approximately $70/month in dues, or $840 per year.
