Lane Assist

Lane Assist can sense if you start to drift into another lane without signaling and help keep you in the correct lane with gentle steering correction. It’s just another way that, under certain conditions, Volkswagen helps you feel confident on the road.

What is Lane Assist?

Working to help keep you between the lines

Alongside attentive driving, Lane Assist is a feature that helps you keep your vehicle within its driving lane. Lane Assist can be activated when you’re driving above approximately 35 mph on roads with visible markings. Lane Assist can recognize certain lane markings and warn you with corrective steering if your vehicle is coming too close to a lane marker without activating a turn signal. You can override this corrective steering at any time and you can also turn the system on or off through the infotainment system or by pushing the assist systems button.

Volkswagen built Lane Assist with drivers like you in mind, designing it to help prevent and help to provide protection in accidents. It can give you an extra layer of peace of mind, allowing you to focus on the road ahead.

How does Lane Assist work?

Get driver alert and action

When enabled, Lane Assist uses a camera on the windshield to (within the capability of the system) help keep you centered in your lane and provides gentle steering interventions—or nudges—to help reduce the risk of unintentional drifting.

It’s designed to work when driving above speeds of approximately 35 mph and only if the road lane marking is detected.

Depending on your vehicle, you can enable and disable Lane Assist from within the vehicle’s Driver Assist” menu in the infotainment system or the “Assistance” systems menu in the instrument cluster.

And whenever you’re ready to make a lane change, be sure to manually check your blind spots and use your turn signal, otherwise Lane Assist may intervene.

What’s the benefit of Lane Assist?

Built with drivers in mind, Lane Assist is designed to help lessen the severity of, and (when and where it can) help prevent, accidents. And while it is not a substitute for attentiveness, driving with Lane Assist can help give you some added peace of mind and confidence.
