Temperature control in a few steps and in fewer minutes
The Climatic system is a temperature-controlled air conditioner, not a manual air conditioner. It will adjust cabin temperature to the actual temperature on the dial—it's not guessing!

You can do three things very quickly with the Climatic system:
  • Cool the interior
  • Heat the interior
  • Defrost the windshield

Cool the interior
Do these five steps in sequence:
  1. Turn the temperature dial (1) all the way to the left—until it stops at the blue dot. You will summon the cool, cool air.
  2. Activate the A/C—push the A/C button (2).
  3. Channel the air to the dashboard vents (3) so you feel the wonderful, cool air sooner.
  4. Turn the fan (4) to "3" (or "4" if you are in a hurry).
  5. As soon as you feel the colder air, activate the recirculation function (5).
Heat the interior
Do these three steps in sequence:
  1. Turn the temperature dial (1) all the way to the right—until it stops at the red dot. You will summon the warm, warm air.
  2. Channel the air to the dashboard vents (3) so you feel the wonderful, warm air sooner.
  3. As soon as you feel warm air circulating from the vents, turn the fan (4) to "3" (or "4" if you are in a hurry).
Defrost the windshield
Do these four steps in sequence:
  1. Direct the air to the windshield (3).
  2. Activate the A/C button (2) to dry the air.
  3. Turn the temperature dial (1) all the way to the right—to the hottest setting.
  4. Turn the fan (4) to "3" and watch the windshield clear.
Remember: Air conditioning also means "conditioning the air" which is what you are doing when you activate the A/C. You can operate the A/C feature at any temperature—use it when you want to dry the air in the interior quickly. Don't forget: At any time while driving, you can also direct the air to the dashboard vents, the floor, the windshield—or anywhere in between with the directional dial.

Did You Know:
That following this recommended five–step sequence is the best way to maximize your comfort before the interior is completely cool?

That you may experience warmth or coolness as the Climatic system automatically regulates the cabin to the desired temperature?

That on a hot summer day the air in your vehicle is hotter than the air outside? That is why you wait to activate the recirculation button until the air inside the vehicle is cooler than the air outside the vehicle.

The fastest way to remove the moisture on the windshield is to follow this four-step procedure in sequence?

That the A/C function also dehumidifies the air, which helps clear the moisture from the windshield more quickly?

Please Remember:
  • Poor visibility increases the risk of collisions and other accidents that cause serious personal injuries.
  • Always make sure all windows are clear of ice, snow and condensation for good visibility through the windshield, side and rear windows.
  • Maximum heating output and fast defrosting will only be possible after the engine has reached operating temperature. Wait until you have good visibility before driving off.
  • Always make sure you know how to properly use the heating and ventilation systems as well as the rear window defogger that you will need for good visibility.
  • Never use air recirculation for long periods of time. When the air conditioner is off and recirculation mode is on, condensation can quickly form on the windows and greatly reduce visibility.
  • Always switch off recirculation mode when it is not needed.
  • Stale air causes driver fatigue and reduces driver alertness, which can cause accidents, collisions and serious personal injuries.
  • Never use air recirculation for long periods of time because no fresh air will come into the passenger compartment.
